Dental Implants

Dental implants can be  used to replace a single tooth that has been removed, replace large spaces with multiple implants or stabilise dentures. Our aim is to produce a tooth that emerges out of naturally contoured gums and restores the natural contours of the face. we wnt to restore your health, your smile and your confidence.

How do implants work?

Dental implants are constructed from titanium which is machined to aerospace tolerances and is 100% biocompatible with the body.
After placement of the implant the bone integrates with the specially treated titanium surface creating a strong foundation after 2-6 months, a process  called osseointegration. After osseintegration is complete the crown or bridge is placed to restore the missing tooth or teeth.
Dental implants have an exceptionally high success rate which is in large part due to the fact that the implant itself is sterile and placed in a sterile environment.

This patient had an uncomfortable partial denture. It was replaced by a three tooth bridge supported by two dental implants. They were unable to have conventional bridgework due to the absence of posterior teeth.

Advantages of dental implants.

Dental implants replace missing teeth without the need to drill down the adjacent teeth such as with conventional bridgework.

Once a tooth is removed the bone will shrink away. The implant will prevent this bone loss by stimulating the bone. This can help to maintain facial profile and prevent the sunken appearance often associated with multiple tooth loss.

Partial dentures can be replaced with implants which are fixed restoring function and confidence
.

Single tooth implants.

We do our best to save our natural teeth however there are times when we have to remove teeth. These include badly decayed or fractured teeth, unsuccessful root canal treatments and incorrect tooth positions.

Dental implants are particularly suited to replacement of a single tooth. They can be used to produce a natural appearance at the front or back of the mouth. They will also help to prevent further loss of bone and the subsequent change in the facial form. The success rate and cost of a single implant compares very favorably with other complex treatments such as a root canal treatment followed by a crown.
