Emergency Dental Treatment

A dental emergency is normally toothache, swelling, prolonged bleeding after extraction, problem with a front tooth affecting appearance or other conditions for which the patient is unable to wait for the next routine appointment.

The most common cause of toothache, or pain in the region of the jaws and face, is pulpitis - inflammation of the pulp of the tooth. The short, sharp pains usually occur in response to hot, cold or sweet stimuli. If left untreated, the pulp dies and becomes infected, leading to the formation of a dental abscess. The pain from a dental abscess tends to be in response to pressure on the tooth, and is throbbing and continuous.

If you have toothache, seek immediate advice from your dentist before the problem becomes severe.

At Mullumbimby Dental Centre we will always try to see patients in pain the same day.

Emergency treatment at Mullumbimby Dental Centre

During opening hours we will try and give patients with a dental emergency an appointment as soon as we can. Our practice is only 15 minutes away from Byron Bay and 10 minutes from Brunswick Heads. We are happy to provide emergency dental treatment to provide pain relief for people on holiday in the area and then refer them back to their own dentist for any further treatment required.

As we are a large practice with four surgeries and seven dentists we can usually provide emergency dental treatment the same day. Please help us to help you by contacting the surgery as early as possible to enable us to try and arrange an appointment at the earliest possible opportunity.
