It is also a particularly good option if you have suffered a dental emergency, like a chip or crack, as we can work to fix it immediately. If you are in need of an emergency appointment, contact us immediately.

What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is one of the simplest and least invasive cosmetic dental procedures. Bonding involves the application of a tooth-coloured resin to the outside of the tooth to fix the shape and colour. The process can usually be completed within one visit and is completely painless. Unlike porcelain veneers, it involves a minimal amount of tooth reduction, and in some cases none at all. Although it is fast and painless, composite bonding isn’t as suitable as porcelain veneers as a long term option, but it is much more economical and is a great option when dealing with dental emergencies.

What can composite bonding fix?

Composite bonding is a good option for treating a range of different cosmetic issues, some of which include:

  • Chips and cracks in teeth
  • Gaps in between teeth
  • Improving discoloured or stained teeth
  • Reshaping teeth
  • Correcting the length or size of teeth

If you have suffered a trauma to your teeth and are in need of a rapid and economical option for fixing it, contact us immediately and we will be able to find a solution.

Will composite bonding last?

The lifespan of your composite bonding is dependent on a number of factors:

  • The quality of the composite resin.
  • The technique by which it was applied.
  • How you care for your teeth after the composite bonding has been applied.

Bonding made from high quality materials usually has a 10-15 year lifespan, and in some cases even longer. Bonding can easily be re-done when needed. It is important to note that there are a few limitations with composite bonding. It is recommended that you avoid biting into hard objects, like ice cubes, and although they are designed to be stain resistant, the same foods that discolour your natural teeth can affect the colour of your composite bonding. The best way to treat this is to maintain your six-monthly cleans at your dentist.
