Health Fund Rebates
At Mullumbimby Dental Centre we want to ensure that our patients receive the maximum possible rebates from their health funds.
As such, we accept all health fund cards but we have teamed up with three major health funds to offer our patients extra benefits:
Bupa offer their customers access to a range of health care benefits in a variety of different industries. Mullumbimby Dental Centre are preferred providers so, depending on your level of coverage, you may be eligible to receive from 60-100% back on most general dental services. Any benefits you receive are subject to the conditions of your chosen level of cover.
At Mullumbimby Dental Centre we are preferred HCF providers, which allows HCF members certain benefits. Members are eligible for two FREE dental check-up and cleans each calendar year, plus two free mouth guards, fluoride application and all X-rays (up to the annual limit) at no gap.
The new Federal Government Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) will replace the existing Medicare Teen Dental Plan. It will provide access to benefits for basic dental services to around 3.4 million children aged 2-17 years.
The total benefit entitlement will be capped at $1,000 per child over a two year calendar year period. The CDBS will have a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment.
The CDBS will provide individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits will not be available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and will not be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
The key difference with the CDBS over the Teen Dental Plan is that treatment such as simple restorations and root fillings are now covered (up to the $1000 cap) and the plan now covers children aged 2-17.
Here at Mullumbimby Dental Centre we will be fully supporting this plan and bulk billing all eligible patients. We have a Medicare easy claim facility at the practice so patients do not need to pay for the treatment and claim it back from Medicare. We will process the claim directly.
Further details about this plan can be found here:

nib First Choice provider
nib’s First Choice providers is a network of trusted health partners, designed to help you access healthcare with peace of mind. At Mullumbimby Dental Centre we are part of nib’s First Choice Dental network which is “made up of dentists that will offer their services for a set lower rate.”*
Please check with your individual health fund for the details of each scheme and your eligibility.
HICAPS on the spot claiming of health fund rebates
This means that you can claim your health fund benefits you may be eligible for at the time of treatment. The health fund benefit amount will be deducted from the overall treatment charge so you only pay the difference. You no longer have to go to your health fund to claim your refund.
